Chuck Appreciation Post #ChuckRidesAgain

***SPOILERS FOR SUPERNATURAL'S 200th EP***

(Source)
If you live in or near the southeast, I would like to apologize for all the manic laughter and "I KNEW IT!"'s you likely heard during the past half hour. That was me. Sorry.

By the by, I KNEW IT I KNEW IT I KNEW IT.

I never wanted to believe Chuck was gone.

Were there doubters? Yes. People saying he had to be dead because of Kevin? Yes. Did I ever lose hope? Yes. That was about 15 minutes after they said he died. But then I did what I do best: hope, deny, and come up with elaborately unreal ways that what I wanted could have happened.

Who wants to carve this into the side of a church? No takers? Really?
(Source)
And look where I am now. Full of Chuck. This is what happens when you hope, children.

I love Chuck. He's so... Chuck. There aren't words. I am nominating him for the role of Patron Saint Of People Who Sit Around In Their Underwear All Day While They Write.  As there is a Patron Saint of Bathroom Breaks, I think it's reasonable. As I don't know the pope and am not Catholic, this may take a while. So, if you know the pope and/or are Catholic, drop him an e-mail for me, would ya? Thanks sweets. I might be the only one to ever... What do you even do with saints? Shine the saint signal? Saint dance?

I digress.

Chuck is fantastic. For many reasons. One of which is that he followed his passion/the voices in his head. Even when the publisher dropped him, he continued.

With some people, they write because they want to. With others *cough* me and Chuck *cough* we write because we need to. It's a need. Not a fleeting desire. I will always write. And so will Chuck. And that is one of the many reason why I love him. Viva la Chuck. See you soon, boo.

Favorite Fan Videos: Supernatural

Five or so days ago, I was thinking about this post. You know, my fav fan vids for SPN, and the like. Then it dawned on me: I only had one Supernatural fan video I liked. So the search began.

Dun, Dun DUUUNN!

Funny enough, the first video I liked didn't make the cut. And since this valiant search started a mere four days ago, I probably missed a famously good one. Oy. If I did, feel free to share below.

Ladies, Gentlemen, Fanlings, cats, and robotic kiwis, I present my top five Supernatural fan-videos!

Have some Winchester-Brother-Problems-Hug-It-Out-Already feels
5.

4 minutes and 13 seconds of death and feelings.

(P.S. Yes to the escalator thing. They ARE the stairways to hell.)

I've been preparing for the finale.

The whole week before I'd been singing, and I quote:

"CARRY ON MY WAYWARD SON
THERE'LL BE NO PEACE WHEN THIS EP IS DONE
LAY MY WEARY HEAD TO REST
THEN I'LL CRY SOME MORE"

And going into it I was all:

Supernatural: The Musical

Welcome to the first SuperWhoLock: The Musical installment!! Spoilers and good music ahead!

In this series, we'll be posting a theme song for each main character and 'ship, and why we think that song represents that person or persons.

Let's begin.

(Source)
Person: Dean Winchester

Song: Love Don't Die- The Fray

Why? I think this embodies Dean's essence: "And even if they try / They'll never take my body from your side."

That's who he is. That's what he does.

He went to hell and back. For real though. He climbed his way out of a pine box six feet under for Sam. No matter what, he didn't and he doesn't leave Sammy. Even when they fight and go their separate ways once a season, he would die for Sam, Cas, Bobby and anyone else he considers family. Dean may die, but his love doesn't, and it always brings him back.

(Source)

Person: Sam Winchester

Song: Wake Me Up- Avicii

Why?  Sam never wanted to be in the family business. But self-sacrifice is the Winchester way.

"I tried carrying the weight of the world
But I only have two hands
Hope I get the chance to travel the world
But I don't have any plans"

He wants to be free. He doesn't want to spend the rest of his life traveling around in Baby, nearly getting himself killed. He shows that every time Dean dies and he's all "#Crying *sees available woman* "How you doin'?" Then he moves on, up and away.

I'm so mentally dating him.
(Source)

Person: Castiel

Song: Counting Stars- OneRepublic

Why? Beneath the baby face in a trenchcoat, behind that gravely voice and stern expression, lies a hopeful Castiel torn between doing what he's told, doing what's right, and doing what his heart tells him.

"Old, but I'm not that old
Young, but I'm not that bold
And I don't think the world is sold
I'm just doing what we're told"
^ See? Hopeful 2008 Cas.

"I feel something so right
By doing the wrong thing
And I feel something so wrong
By doing the right thing"
^See? Conflicted. He wants to help heaven and the Winchesters. But he can't. Poor adorable Cas.

(Source)
Person: Bobby Singer

Song: I Won't Back Down- Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers

Why? Balls. He's got 'em and he uses 'em.

Sorry. Anyway, It's a very Bobby concept.

"Well I won't back down,
no, I won't back down
You could stand me up at the gates of hell
But I won't back down."

He sold his soul to help find Death.
They stood him up at the gates of hell and he didn't back down. Find something better, I dare you.

Person: Baby, the Impala

Song: I'll Be There For You- The Rembrandts

Why? If you'll forgive the theme-songness of it, I think it really screams Baby.

The one constant in Dean's life, besides pain and loss,  is his Impala. Baby has been a constant companion, and even home for both of them. She gets banged up, destroyed, generally mistreated, and she keeps coming back like the Terminator.

"And when it was clear, they'd park her in the middle of nowhere, sit on the hood, and watch the stars... for hours... without saying a word. It never occurred to them that, sure, maybe they never really had a roof and four walls but they were never, in fact, homeless."

(Source)
Person: Crowley KingOfHell

Song: Gimme the Prize- Queen

Why? "Give me your kings, let me squeeze them in my hands,
Your puny princes,
Your so-called leaders of your land,
I'll eat them whole before I'm done,
The battle's fought and
the game is won,
I am the only one,
I am the god of kingdom come."

Well, then.

(Source)
Person: Lucifer McEvil

Song: Bad to The Bone- George Thorogood

Why? I know he's literally the devil, but I love him. He's so sassy. And evil.

"I make a rich woman beg
I'll make a good woman steal
I'll make an old woman blush
And make a young girl squeal"

Sam is a young girl in this situation. *cough cough Samcifer cough cough*

(Source)
Person: Meg I-kissed-Castiel-I'm-so-lucky-and-you're-not

Song: Trouble- P!ink

Why? The girl is trouble. But she's fun trouble, and she really does care for Castiel, and is willing to help the boys because of it. She's like evil-lite.

(Source)

Person: Ruby Demon-pants

Song: Black Magic Woman- Santana

Why? She got Sammy addicted to demon blood.

"She's a black magic woman
She's tryin' to make a devil out of me."

She's just bad, not bad-ish like Crowley, or bad-adjacent like Meg. Or even sassy-bad like Lucifer. She's just bad.

**************************************SHIPS**************************************

(Source)
The ship: Destiel (Dean/Castiel)

Song: Angel With A Shotgun- The Cab

Why? See the cool fanvid linked above. I'm not using any lyrics 'cause I'd just cut and paste the whole song because it is perfect for Destiel. But you can read them if you click here.

(Source)
 The ship: Crobby (Crowley/Bobby)

Song: Behind Blue Eyes- The Who

Why?

"No one knows what it's like
To feel these feelings
Like I do
And I blame you!

No one bites back as hard
On their anger
None of my pain and woe
Can show through"

Their Facebook relationship status would definitely read "It's complicated." This is a drinking-swearing-grumpy-sarcastic love, not happy-fluffy-kittens love. Yet they're both more than they appear on the surface.

(Source)
The ship: Samcifer (Lucifer/Sam)

Song: Bad Romance- Lady Gaga

Why? Sam was always meant to be the vessel for Lucifer, so of course fandom has decreed that they must be shipped. But y'all? This is a bad romance. Lucifer ain't about love: he's about possession and obliteration.

(Source)

The ship: Megstiel (Meg/Castiel)

Song: She's So Mean- Matchbox Twenty

Why? 'Cause he's her unicorn. Her feelings for Cas took her by surprise. Those feelings couldn't completely redeem her, but they did change her for the better.

So there you have it. What do you think? Do you have an idea for a better song? Tell me in the comments.

Happy listening.

SuperWhoLock vs. The Hiatus

Source

There was no new Supernatural this week.

I repeat: No. New. Supernatural.

Supernatural is the glue that holds SuperWhoLock together, what with its regular seasons and lack of Moffat. Without Supernatural we're a episodeless mass of hopeless fanpeople. Or maybe that's just me.

What am I supposed to do with my life?

Which raises the question, what do you do with your life when there are no new episodes? Binge watch reruns? Read fanfic? Write fanfic?
Read amazing blogs about SuperWhoLock? All four simultaneously, you say?

Some weird people (aka my mom) just wait for the next episode. No. Nein. Nopeskerdoodles, Captain Normal. Ain't happenin'.

These, these people--directors, actors and Kripkes--with their personal lives--gah! No personal life for you!

I digress. The point of this post is, what do you do when your shows/life are lost in the marvelous wilderness? Every week is a mini-wilderness year. I am not Sam Winchester. I am not "fine."

Everything You Need To Know About: Supernatural

From L-R
Sam/Jared Padalecki,
Dean/Jensen Ackles,
Castiel/Misha Collins/The reason faces were invented

Slip into your flannel shirt and grab a piece of pie: it's time to talk Supernatural.

Supernatural is a TV show on The CW and is what the "Super" in "SuperWhoLock" stands for.

So here's your Spoiler-free introduction to Supernatural. At the heart of the show are the two brothers Sam and Dean Winchester, played by Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles, respectively. Recurring characters include the angel Castiel, played by Misha Collins; hunter and father figure Bobby Singer, played by Jim Beaver; the demon Crowley aka the King of Hell, played by Mark A. Shepard; and the prophet Kevin Tran, played by Osric Chau. And we cannot forget Eric Kripke, who is to Supernatural what Moffat is to Doctor Who, e.g. brilliant writer and wrencher of emotions.

When Sam is only six months old, his mother dies under mysterious, tragic, violent and, we later learn, demonic circumstances. The boys' father John Winchester, played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan, sets out to seek revenge on the demon responsible for her death, dragging his young sons in his wake.

As a young college grad, Sam has left behind "the family business," leaving Dean and his father to hunt alone while he pursues a "normal" life. Dean shows up unannounced and tells Sam that their dad is overdue to return from a "hunting" trip. Reluctantly, Sam joins Dean in a search for their father. Enter one of my favorite uncredited characters: Baby, aka Metallicar, aka the '67 Chevy Impala that Dean drives/lives in/loves.

As you might have guessed, there's no happy family reunion with dad. Instead, we get more evil, sibling rivalry and dysfunction, and more flaming blondes. (First episode hankie alert: grab your tissues when you see the cookies, 'cause tears are imminent.)

The ongoing strained relationship between Sam and Dean is a central theme of the show. The first season has a "monster of the week" kind of vibe, although a "big bad" does appear. Later seasons have season-long big bad story arcs with some supporting evil thrown in for good measure. Fairly quickly the show settles in to what it does best: the battle between good vs. evil with nothing less than the world at stake, with warriors on both sides who are all too human, even when they're not.

L-R Crowley/Mark A. Shepard
Bobby Singer/Jim Beaver
Supernatural is currently in season 9, with season 10 already on order. There's even serious spinoff talk. So there's more than enough of the Winchester brothers for more than one weekend watching binge.

There's a handy Supernatural Wiki if you're dying to know more. It's exactly what it sounds like, and can be found here.

Popular ships include:  Destiel (Dean/Castiel), Sabriel (Sam/Gabriel), Samifer (Sam/Lucifer), Wincest (Sam/Dean), Samstiel (Sam/Castiel), Cabriel (Castiel/Gabriel), Crobby (Crowley/Bobby). What's a ship, you ask? Let me 'splain.

Next week? Who, Who.

Moffat: A Love/Hate Story

Someone curses Moffat every 28 seconds.
Feels are really Moffat's "cup of tea." (Yes, I went there.)

"Curse you, Moffat!"

See? It just happened again.

Someone (me) once said:
"The pen is mightier than the sword; with a sword you can kill someone, but with a pen you can write them a magnificent death scene."
And that's the way I feel about Moffat. He builds up these people and brings them down in the most glorious ways. He breaks them, and mends them, and does it all over again. And the hard truth is without Moffat, Gatiss, Davies, Whedon, and Kripke, the Fandoms would crumble. You saw what happened to the Sherlock Fandom whilst on hiatus. What would happen if--

Oh, I can't even. So thank you Moffat, for everything. For the never-ending cascade of feels, to the amazing quotes. You have given us the most wonderful characters and brilliant villains. And most of all, thank you for making our hearts wibbly-wobbly, every timey-wimey.
